It's been quite some time that Naomi Watts left her ex-husband, Liev Schreiber behind. Yet she was spotted with him, her sons and a dog in New York City on the Big Day.

The Hollywood actress took her dog for a walk in New York, and was spotted talking to someone over the telephone. She stopped with her dog when it met another.

Naomi Watts is said to be thrilled about her decision to break up with her long-term partner, Liev Schreiber. It was one of the "best but hardest decisions" she's ever made, she acknowledged, according to Celebdirty Laundry.

Christmas was special for both the actors, as they spent it in New York City together with their two sons. Even though they do not live together, the couple has agreed to present a united front, pretending that they are co-parents and everything is fine.

Liev and Naomi have not been happy together. In February, sources said that Naomi was 'constantly walking on eggshells' at home, and was also confessing to her close friends and family that Liev was a difficult person to live with. As they were continuously quarrelling, Naomi decided, at last, to back off and stop living with Liev Schreiber.

"Relationships are hard whether you're famous or not. I don't know anyone who doesn't have to work on it. Being an actor doesn't change anything,' said the 48-year-old Aussie, according to Daily Mail.

Earlier, they were living in New York. After they uprooted their family from New York City to the West Coast with their two sons, Samuel and Sasha, Naomi Watts found it difficult to adjust. She is now spending more time and prefers living in New York City.

Moreover, Naomi always felt that Liev Schreiber was cheating on her and going around with other women, even though he denied it. Even in 2011, he was said to be having an affair with an Australian model. Although he refuted the charges, Naomi lost her trust in him.

Today, both of them have split and live their lives separately. Still, they are presenting a united front for the sake of their sons.

"It is with great love, respect, and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship," the couple had said.

Hence, Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber seem to have figured out the best way to spend time together as a family for their sons, yet live separately for their own time and space. It is just the kind of "modern" family that is common today.
