Intel has been a common favorite when it comes to the preference of gaming enthusiasts, but it is also believed that AMD's Ryzen processor is about to change the market's idea of a highly functional and satisfying chipset.

This month of January is likely to be promising in the technology arena as Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Intel both are expected to release their powerful CPUs that are believed to change a lot of things.

The AMD Ryzen Summit Ridge CPU is fast shaping up as a game changer as fresh reports have confirmed that the flagship model of the Zen-based SR series chips, the SR7 Black Edition. The chip is ready to overclock out of the box, with the top processing speed at 4GHz on all cores and on single-core, it's an effortless 5GHz.

According to BGR, A recent test conducted by Canard PC, a French independent magazine dedicated to PC gaming, shows the Ryzen chip performed splendidly considering that the chip used is considered an engineering sample and not the final version of the product.

An engineering sample is always considered a less powerful item, but, despite of it, the eight-core AMD processor was able to perform well against the eight-core i7 6900k. The latest test shows that AMD Ryzen beat the six-core i7 6800k.

When put side-by-side with Intel in gaming mode, the Ryzen had a bit of difficulty mainly because a lot of video games do not maximize its big number of cores in reality. Most video games in the market generally use four-core architecture or less that makes them a perfect for the quad-core i7 6700k.

However, the AMD Ryzen is a threat especially to Intel's products. AMD's several variants also offer flexibility to consumers on who may want to work around a specific budget.

Sources from Yibada have revealed that AMD's SR3 variant, which is highly same to Intel's Core i3 that will be sold for $149 only. The SR5 and SR7, on the other hand, will be sold somewhere between $250 and $350. The SR7 Black Edition is believed to be sold at $500.

Meanwhile, Intel's Kaby Lake processor is also set to come out soon with an impressive clockspeed and better overclocking potential due to its 14-nm Skylake processor design. Kaby Lake is expected to make a great impact on the gaming industry and be very competitive in the market against its closest rivals, NVIDIA and AMD.
