The Oklahoma City Thunder are doing just fine in the ongoing regular season. Currently, they are holding a 22-16 win-loss record and sitting at the 7th spot of the Western Conference division. But recent reports are suggesting that they should go after Rudy Gay and try to get an ample support to Russell Westbrook for their playoff aspiration.

Gay has been a familiar figure in the rumor mills the past few months. He already expressed his decision of leaving the Sacramento Kings after the current season ends. His frustration with how the Kings management runs the team and tired of playing for a losing team are the main reason he came up with that decision.

On the other hand, the Thunder are surviving with only Russell Westbrook as the superstar for the team. After they traded Serge Ibaka in the offseason and Kevin Durant left them and signed with the Golden State Warriors last summer, Westbrook consequently became the main gunner for the team and carry the big load of offense for them.

And now, in order to bolster their bid for a playoff spot this season, they should try and make a deal with Sacramento Kings for Rudy Gay. According to Forbes, Gay is said to be one of the players that will be available in trade market in coming days and the Oklahoma City Thunder is one the team, aside from the Orlando Magic, that is the best fit for him.

There is no doubt that Gay will boost the frontcourt of the Thunder once they are seriously decided of bringing him in. Gay is a proven veteran that they can rely on both on offensive and defensive end. They should also take advantage of his impressive showing this season who presently averaging 18.7 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists.

Last month, FOX Sports also reported that the trade of Rudy Gay to the Oklahoma City Thunder is inevitable. It is only a matter of time that the rumored deal between the Thunder and Kings will happen as it will make an improvement on their roster. Gay will replace Durant as Westbrook new partner while the Kings will receive point guard Cameron Payne, a player spot they badly needed.

Is Rudy Gay heading to the Oklahoma City Thunder to join Russell Westbrook a possibility?
