Actress Julianne Moore's toes were the subject of headlines after her feet were pictured jam packed in her shoes during The Great Gatsby premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last week.

Last night, the actress appeared as a guest on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, in which she addressed the mishap.

The actress also admitted that she had no idea that her toes stole the show until she checked her Twitter news feed the following day.

"I didn't feel a thing," she told Fallon. She recalled the incident as "Toemageddon", and said she "felt fine".

"I was just walking along, like, 'Hiiiii, I'm at Cannes' and my toes are hanging off [my shoes]!" Moore said.

The 52-year-old actress wore a stunning black and lilac colored Dior dress on the red carpet.

The actress encountered a similar situation to pregnant reality star Kim Kardashian after her feet was pictured swollen and smashed into a pair of shoes she wore on May 16.

"My doctor has told me to elevate my feet - I just ordered a pair of pointy-toed flats," Kardashian told Grazia magazine. "When I flew in them the other day, I landed with one strap unbuckled, as I couldn't get it around my ankle," she says.

Meanwhile, Moore joked with Fallon and told the host that in order to prevent the mishap from happening againt she planeed to have her toes removed for upcoming events.

"I needed to prevent this from happening again. So I cut my toes off," the actress joked.

Throughout her career, Moore has nabbed four Academy Award nominations for her roles in Boogie Nights, The End of the Affair, Far from Heaven and The Hours.

The actress has also written a successful series of children's books, Freckleface Strawberry, which was a New York Times bestseller.
