Ever since Samsung's massive screw up with the Galaxy Note 7, the company has done many things to ease the pain out of the market and to gain back the trust of its customers. It was heavily rumored that the Galaxy Note lineup might be discontinued after such a fiasco but seems like Samsung Galaxy Note 8 would finally arrive.

The South Korean technology giant posted a codename "Baikal" on Weibo, which is China's version of Twitter. It is speculated that this codename is for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8 flagship, The codename was also shared on other social media portals like Instagram and Twitter. "Baikal", which is also the name of the deepest lake in the world, is located on the southern face of Siberia. The lake also is one of the largest single sources of freshwater on Earth and houses more than twenty percent of the world's freshwater reserve.

It is unclear why Samsung would choose this name for a codename for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. As of now, rumors surrounding Samsung Galaxy Note 8 suggest a curved infinity display and an onboard 256GB storage, with an option for a microSD card. Galaxy Note 8 will not skip out on providing the best in class VR experience and therefore is rumored to have a 4K display.

Samsung wants to blow away the phablet competition with its Samsung Galaxy Note 8, as the phone is presumably coming with Samsung Bixby as its personal digital assistant, just like Siri is for Apple. Other than that it would have top of the line hardware, complete with a Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6 gigabytes of RAM, a dual lens camera and dust and waterproofing certification.

The phone is also rumored to be coming with a large capacity battery. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 would be featuring a better S Pen, which is rumored to be coming with speakers in it. The phone would also come with 2016's Galaxy Note 7 standard iris scanner.

As for the screen, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 seems to be shipping with a curved display of size 6.2-inch and the phone is also rumored to come with a bezel-less shape. Since this is Samsung's best trial since the Note 7 fiasco, it wants to put the best in class hardware and design elements in the phablet to make it stand out from the rest of its competitors.

Samsung was supposed to show the Galaxy Note 8 at MWC 2017, but that has been pushed to March 29. The "Baikal" codenamed Samsung Galaxy Note 8 would go on sale after the first half of April, according to PhoneArena.
