This week's Friday box office features a mega-budget adventure movie, a new Eddie Murphy comedy, a horror film with an Olsen sister, and a quirky SNL-tinged release.

Last week The Lorax grossed $70 million dollars in its opening weekend, which is a number Disney will be hard pressed to achieve with it's sci-fi film John Carter, according to a weekend gross box office revenue estimate. Box Office Mojo predicts John Carter will gross $38.9 million in its debut this weekend, which would place it in second place behind the $43.5 million The Lorax is expected to grab.

Friday Night Lights hunk Taylor Kitsch stars in the $250-million adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic. Kitsch plays John Carter, a former military officer who is transported to Mars and battles evil forces. Disney hopes Carter will do better in its opening weekend than 2010's Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, another big budget adventure which underwhelmed in its debut.

If you're looking for a laugh, Eddie Murphy returns to the big screen in A Thousand Words as a quick-talking agent who must learn how to express himself through actions before he loses everything. The movie currently has a 0% rating on Rotten Tomato, so ticket-buyer beware. The movie is expected to earn just $5.7 million at the box office.

For horror movie buffs, the talented Elizabeth Olsen stars in Silent House. Audiences will experience this "found footage" movie in real time. Filmakers present the movie in what appears to be one uninterrupted shot. Silent house is predicted to gross $10.5 million this weekend.

Finally there's the star-sprinkled Friends with Kids. The limited release film stars Adam Scott and Jennifer Westfeldt as two single friends who decide to have a baby without engaging in a traditional relationship. The film also stars Kristen Wiig, Jon Hamm, Maya Rudolph, Megan Fox, and Chris O'Dowd.
