Something about Adam Levine's new fragrance launch smells a little fishy. Maybe the stink comes from remarks Levine made just a year ago, when he was poking fun at other celebs who have crossed over to the perfume market.

The Maroon 5 singer and mentor on The Voice is promoting 222, which will be in stores in May 2013.

But fellow Voice coach Christina Aguilera was quick to link back to a tweet Levine sent in March 2011, which read: "I also would like to put an official ban on celebrity fragrances. Punishable by death from this point forward." (Insert foot here.)

"Haha @AdamLevine," Aguilera wrote. "What a difference a year makes."

Levine's 222 scents for men and women, which will range in price from $36 to $65, "will reflect (his) personality and style," according to a press release.

Aguilera, who has a fragrance line of her own, kept it all in good fun, adding,  "Welcome to the celebrity fragrance family!"
