Kailyn Lowry hopes that her third child's father, Chris Lopez, will step up to the plate with their son.

Just over a week after their baby boy arrived, the Teen Mom 2 star said that she's hopeful for Lopez's involvement in the boy's life, despite the fact that their romantic relationship came to an end months ago.

“Every child deserves their dad,” Lowry told Radar Online on August 14. “I’m hopeful. I’m positive he’ll be around.”

When Lowry gave birth to her third child earlier this month, Lopez seemingly proved that he wants to be involved by showing up to the Delaware facility before traveling home with the longtime reality star.

“I think he has been as supportive as he can,” Lowry said. “He does the best to his ability even though it doesn’t necessarily meet the standards of what everyone else expects of him. I think people need to keep that in mind.”

Prior to giving birth, Lowry said she was “always hoping” that Lopez would join her at the hospital when she went into labor.

“But just based on how our relationship has been there was always a question whether he would have his phone on him or would he be at work,” she said. “I’m so glad that he came.”

Lowry and Lopez called it quits shortly after the reality star learned she was pregnant at the end of last year.

“Kail became a relationship of convenience for him,” a source close to Lowry told Radar Online earlier this yewar. “He never actually loved her. It was a relationship, but he just decided he wanted something different and things didn’t work out so they went their separate ways.”
