Nick Carter Is Being Accused Of Raping A Former Popstar

Nick Carter, the 90's heartthrob from the popular boy-band group, Backstreet Boys, is being accused of raping a fellow pop singer, Melissa Schuman. Schuman was a part of the all-girl group, Dream, and claims that Carter raped her back in 2002.

Schuman has alleged that the incident occurred when she was 18 while Carter was 20. In a detailed post that she wrote on her personal blog, Melissa Explains It All, the singer recounts that she and Carter were introduced to each other through their agents and began talking after Carter acknowledged interest in her. However, the two never officially dated.

The two saw each other again a few years after they were cast in a made-for-television movie. Carter allegedly invited Schuman back to his apartment where Schuman claims that Carter locked them in the bathroom, forcibly performed oral sex on her, and demanded that she would do the same.

"He was stronger and much bigger than me, and there was no way I would be able to open that door or have anyone help me... My friend couldn't help me, I didn't even know where she was," Schuman recalled.  So when he placed my hand on his p**** my thought was the only way to get out was to get him to finish what he had started." 

Schuman further revealed that at that time, she was saving herself for marriage and begged Carter to stop because she was still a virgin. However, after what happened in the bathroom, Carter led her to his bedroom and raped her. She said that she informed her manager of what had occurred but was told not file any charges against Carter as his legal team was too powerful then. 

Schuman also stated that she was motivated to come forward with her story after another woman accused Carter of sexual assault in 2006 but was publicly victim-shamed and called "a big fat liar." Schuman wrote in her post that she did not want to be known for what happened to her, although, she felt obligated to come forward with her own experience and hopes to inspire others to do the same.

"If you are reading this and you have been assaulted, know you don't have to be silent and you are not alone. I know it's scary. I'm scared. I believe you. I stand with you and together I hope we can bring light to things that have been lost in the darkness for so long," Schuman additionally wrote. 

Schuman is married to dancer, Brandon Henschel. The two have a son, Elin Henschel, who was born in July 2010. Schuman is also known for her role in the film, Love Don't Cost a Thing, which also starred Nick Cannon and Christina Milan.

Nick Carter is also now married to Lauren Kitt and has a son named Odin Reign. Carter has not given his response to Schuman's accusations as of yet.
