Actor Jon Favreau is going to join the cast of Solo: A Star Wars Story as an alien, though details about this remained under wraps.

Favreau, who played Tony Stark's reliable wing man in Iron Man, is now back in the scene, but this time as an extraterrestrial creature in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Fans can now rest well knowing what the 51-year-old was hinting in his Twitter post weeks ago.

He shared a photo of himself with Lawrence Kasdan and Ron Howard and added #starwars and #solo, fueling rumors that he would be joining the star-studded cast of Solo: A Star Wars Story. Lo and behold, these rumors turned out to be true, though Favreau was tapped to voice a still-unannounced alien.

Howard, the director of the film, recently took to Twitter to make the exciting announcement.

"Wondering why we r all together? @Jon_Favreau is voicing a very cool & important alien character for #HanSolo Flattered & fortunate I could pull him away from his #LionKing directing duties," Howard wrote.

However, this was not the first time that Favreau had lend a hand, or voice at that, with a Star Wars film. In Star Wars: The Clone Wars, he was Pre Vizsla, a warrior from Mandalore.

Prior to this announcement, Favreau was busy with a directing project, The Lion King. He last directed The Jungle Book. He would also be back as Happy Hogan in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, which will hit theaters on May 4.

It should be noted that the announcement came just a couple of months before Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters. With that said, it could be expected that Favreau would not be getting any major participation in the film.

'Star Wars' Cameos

Star Wars films are no stranger to casting big names in Hollywood. So much so that the royal family of Britain was tapped to make a cameo in The Last Jedi.

However, this did not materialize allegedly because Prince William and Prince Harry's height could not pass of as a stormtrooper. 500 Days of Summer star Joseph Gordon-Levitt was noted for his appearance as a resident of Canto Bight.

For Solo: A Star Wars Story, Howard already announced that apart from Favreau, Warwick Davis and Clint Howard are set to appear.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is slated for a May 25 release. Alden Ehrenreich will play Han Solo, Emilia Clarke as Kira, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, and Woody Harrelson as Beckett.
