Burt Reynolds made a stirring appearance on NBC's Today. He was supposed to promote his latest film, The Last Movie Star.

Reynolds' Greatest Love

One of the biggest proclamations that Reynolds made during his six-minute interview with anchor Hoda Kotb was that he revealed the ultimate love of his life. To viewers' surprise, he chose his Smokey and the Bandit co-star Sally Field.

"Well, she was 7 when I fell in love with her. She stayed 7 for about 11 years. I wanted her really bad for Smokey and they said, 'Well, she's not sexy,' and I said 'You don't get it. Talent is sexy.' And She got that," said Reynolds to Kotb in a statement that was transcribed by E! News.

Reynolds worked on four films with Field and even admitted in previous interviews that she was the love of his life. The two dated for five years and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas star stated Field will always be his "one that got away."

Clooney As Reynolds?

Another highlight of the interview was Reynolds' bold selection of the actor that he would like to portray him in a future film. Without any doubt in his voice, the All Dogs Go To Heaven voice actor proclaimed that he wanted George Clooney to play out his life's story.

Hoda's Lips And A Divided Twitter

As Kotb and Reynolds speak concluding the interview, the movie icon made an uncanny statement to the veteran NBC News journalist.

"So proud of you for not having your lips larger," said Reynolds in a statement that was transcribed by People Magazine.

Several of the show's viewers visited the show's Twitter page when the interview was posted. Fans were divided into multiple camps. Some fans were concerned regarding Mr. Reynolds' health, while another group of fans stated that the show should have incorporated Reynolds into other segments. Unfortunately, some fans slammed the producers for airing the conversation.

"This interview shouldn't have been aired. Burt Reynolds should only be interviewed by another male. He is nothing but a dirty old man. Poor Hoda! I hate it that he put her through all of that on camera," said a Twitter follower.

The 'Today' Corner

The Today crew is known for making incredible moments such as giving the nation the power to choose the name of their latest puppy with a purpose. However, over several weeks, some of the show's on-air personalities have made some questionable decisions.

Kathie Lee Gifford stated to Andy Cohen during an interview on the media personality's Sirius XM radio channel that she talked about two controversial people she calls longtime friends, Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein. While Gifford stated that she does not condone their behavior, she did reach out to them.

Fans were outraged with Kotb and Guthrie on Feb. 15 when they interviewed a survivor, 17-year-old Samantha Grady, from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida. Guthrie asked Grady a question about one of her classmates and Grady revealed that she passed away during the shooting. The mortified fans took to Twitter to express their outrage.

In January 2018, Megyn Kelly took her feud with Jane Fonda to an outrageous new level as she openly criticized the 9 to 5 actress' history as an anti-Vietnam War activist. She also used one of the nicknames Fonda received during that particular period of her career, "Hanoi Jane." The feud started back in September 2017, when Fonda refused to answer Kelly's question about her history with plastic surgery.
