Selena Gomez Reveals Transplant Scar While Wearing A Bikini In Australia
On Monday, March 19 paparazzi caught the "Wolves" singer on a lavish yacht in Sydney, Australia, as she soaked up some sun with some girlfriends.
For the outing, the 25-year-old sported an orange bikini top with black bottoms and wore gold hoops, while her hair was pulled into a ponytail.
Gomez's Battle With Lupus
Bieber wasn't anywhere in sight, but what was seen was her scar from her kidney transplant surgery.
As previously reported, Gomez became severely ill as she faced a complication from lupus that had attacked her kidneys.
After finding out she would need a kidney transplant, Gomez's best friend, actress, Francia Raisa decided to donate her kidney to her.
Luckily, Raisa was a match, but the "Good For You" singer did face issues following the procedure that could have led her to death.
Gomez had to undergo emergency surgery where doctors took a vein from her leg and created a new artery, which is why the scar appears on her leg.
The Billboard Music Award winner opted to keep the surgery private until she revealed the news on Instagram in September 2017. Gomez shared a photo of her and Raisa as they both lay in hospital beds, hooked to a BP monitor and oxygen support.
I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of. So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health. I honestly look forward to sharing with you, soon my journey through these past several months as I have always wanted to do with you. Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery. And finally, there aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis. Lupus continues to be very misunderstood but progress is being made. Justin And Selena
As per reports, Bieber and Gomez decided to spend some time apart due to their recent arguments. The couple supposedly felt overwhelmed with the pressure of maintaining their relationship.
The high profile pair reconnected in October 2017 after being on again and off again in 2012.
According to a source, the two are taking a step back to reevaluate everything and decide where they want to take their relationship.
"She is still going to church and keeping the lines open with Justin though. This is a more reset and a step back to reevaluate what's going on and what direction they want to go in," the source explained.
