After the success of the hit sci-fi thriller film A Quiet Place, a sequel for the John Krasinski-directed movie is already in the works at Paramount.

A Quiet Place sequel is a no-brainer, considering the amount amassed by the film, which totaled to $213 million worldwide and close to $135 million in North America. This news was revealed on Wednesday during the CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

Jim Gianopulos, Paramount chairman and CEO, revealed some lineup for the studio's upcoming films, including two Star Trek films. A Quiet Place is the first film produced by the studio after the official arrived at the company.

"If you told me five years ago that an almost silent film starring the very funny guy Jim from The Office would have been a hit at Paramount, I would have said, 'Well, I should go work at Paramount,'" the executive quipped.

Meanwhile, A Quiet Place sequel is not going to be totally hard for scriptwriters Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, who revealed that the first film had a lot of "leftover" material that'll be enough for a sequel. No release date has been announced for the sequel.

A Quiet Place Plot

Krasinski starred in the film, a shocking move that proved he can also do thriller films and not just what was tied to him, comedy. He plays the patriarch, opposite Emily Blunt's character. The two are real-life couple, so the chemistry wasn't questionable.

A Quiet Place revolves around a family who must stay quiet to survive. It was set post-apocalyptic, where monsters with acute sense of hearing attack anything that produces loud noise within seconds. Aside from its thrilling, breath-holding factor, the family dynamics also played nicely in the film. The movie tackles how parents are willing to do everything to protect their children, even if it meant sacrificing their own lives.

A Quiet Place cost $17 million to make, and with the amount it earned, it's no question that it is profitable. It started to create a buzz after its launch at South by Southwest and earning high rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

While A Quiet Place sequel is already given green light, it is still unclear whether Krasinski will still direct the film. His next project is Life on Mars, another sci-fi thriller under Paramount.

His role's fate on the sequel of A Quiet Place is still unknown, as his character died in the first film in a bid to save his two children.
