Angelina Jolie reportedly will it very hard to give up primary custody over her children with estranged husband Brad Pitt. Joint custody? Never, it is up to her.

After the heavy custody battle between the former couple that started in 2016, Jolie and Pitt has finally reached an agreement in November 2018 that made them avoid a court trial.

With the current setup, the 44-year-old actress would have her five minor children Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, Knox, 11, and Vivienne, 11, under her wing for most of the time. A source told HollywoodLife that amid the complicated arrangement, Jolie was given primary custody over the children while Pitt was given tons of visitation rights, as per the instruction of the judge the last time they visited the court.

"No, she has no plans to offer him joint custody," the said source further revealed.

Keeping Things the Same

Jolie would want to keep the current arrangement, wherein Pitt is allowed less than 50 percent custody of the kids. If the judge ordered otherwise, however, the actress would of course have to comply.

Nonetheless, it would be "very hard on her because the kids are her world," the source explained.

The award-winning actress and filmmaker has shown her conviction to retain the custody over her children. She has an emotional reason, and it would all trickle down to her love for them.

Just recently, Jolie showed appreciation for her kids for helping her get through her split with their father. The actress, now back with her iconic role as Disney stepmother Maleficent, said: "We've all been a bit in lockdown. We all have our difficult times. Very similar to my character in the film, my strength is from my children."

Maleficent, an inspiration?

On her role as the vengeful fairy in "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil," Jolie said: "There's something when you are not feeling very strong where you push yourself and I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to play these kind of characters that pull out every bit of strength and remind me that I can be strong. I guess I am a little bit stronger."

Jolie explains that within every parent, there is a strength that roots from the need to survive anything for their children.

Jolie and Pitt had been together since 2004. They tied the knot in the month of August in 2014. In September 2016, Jolie filed for divorce, with the legal documents citing the pair's irreconcilable differences.

A source told TMZ that Jolie became "fed up" with Pitt's consumption of weed and possibly alcohol. Jolie was also upset over his way of parenting to their children, hinting on what she believes as "an anger problem." Hence, the renowned actress chose to make the big decision for the safety of her children and "for the health of the family."

In April 2019, the former celebrity couple filed papers to be declared legally single. They moved for a bifurcated judgment, allowing them to proceed with the negotiation of their divorce settlement regarding custody and assets even with their marriage officially over.
