You might think that the Queen of England is the pickiest eater. Yes, she tasted food from all over the globe and have the finest chefs cook for her. However, Royal insiders said Queen Elizabeth II is not a fussy eater -- she likes simple food and British staples.

There was one formal royal chef, though, that made the Queen mad to the point that she had to write a note about the meal he prepared.

The Queen's Notebook

According to a former royal servant Charles Oliver, Her Majesty and Prince Philip have a small notebook which is brought to them with every meal.

What they do with the notebook is fill them with notes and feedbacks for the chefs about the meal.

"Mostly, the notebook remains blanks, as the Queen is not fussy with food," Oliver wrote in his book, "Dinner at Buckingham Palace."

He added that when the royals have a guest during an informal lunch and they reveal definite likes and dislike -- like fried potatoes or brussels sprouts -- the Queen will make a careful note for future reference.

"This is duly recorded by the kitchen and remembered, should the guest come again," Oliver said.

However, there was one time that the Queen wrote someting on the notebook. Interestingly, it was not a constructive feedback but a rather scathing message.

The Queen found a dead slug in her food, and she definitely didn't like it -- no one will!

Queen Elizabeth II removed the creature from the meal, tore out a piece of paper from her notebook and laid it on top.

"On a torn-off top sheet, the footmen found the dead body of a slug."

Queen Elizabeth II wrote: "I found this in the salad - could you eat it?"

What does Queen Elizabeth II Usually Eat in a Day?

The former chef of the royal kitchen, Darren McGrady, said that Her Majesty is "not a foodie. But she eats to live, unlike Prince Philip who loves to eat and would stand and talk food all day."

He said that when the Queen dines on her own, she's very disciplined. However, it's worth noting that "she has a no-starch rule."

According to the Telegraph, the Queen enjoys exceptional morning breakfast food, specifically, Kellogg's, Quaker Oats and Weetabix.

Queen Elizabeth II starts her day with tea and biscuits. She likes Earl Grey with no milk or sugar in a bone china cup, with a few biscuits on the side.

Next, she eats a bowl of her favourite cereal or fruit. The cereal is served from Tupperware because she thinks it will keep the cereals fresh.

Sometimes, toast is involved with marmalade. The royal household jam is from Wilkin and Sons. It's also said that she enjoys scrambled brown eggs with smoked salmon and truffle.

The Queen's lunch is simple at the palace. She likes fish with vegetables. Her favourite is grilled Dover sole with wilted spinach. Sometimes, she would also request for a simple grilled chicken with salad.

With her afternoon tea, she likes finger sandwiches with cucumber, smoked salmon, egg and mayo. Sometimes, she opts for ham and mustard with the crust removed, as well as raspberry jam sandwiches. McVitie's tea biscuits, scones and cakes are also her favourite afternoon snacks.

For dinner, the Queen enjoys beef filet, duck or salmon. She also loves a Sunday roast especially if it's served well done.

Desserts come from Balmoral, usually strawberries. There are also white peaches from the greenhouses at Windsor Castle.

Whether it's a luxury or a cheap brand, the Queen loves chocolates. From Cadbury to Nestle, to Charbonnel et Walker and Prestat.

And last but not least, she ends her evening with a glass of champagne. She chooses from eight different brands, including Krug, Lanson and Bollinger.
