Royal Baby First PHOTOS; VIDEO of Kate Middleton & Prince William Leaving St. Mary Hospital
Royal fans got a first glimpse of Kate Middleton and Prince William's baby boy on Tuesday.
Media outlets have camped outside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's hospital where the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth on Monday. Cameras have been streaming the live scene outside the hospital, hoping to fetch the first images of His Royal Highness. See video here:
The newborn came into the world Monday afternoon at a healthy 8 pounds, 6 ounces.
The royal baby's name has not been made public, but many have speculated that his name will be released at the same time that Kate leaves the hospital.
The couple released a statement thanking the staff at Lindo Wing for their hospitality and safe delivery of the baby boy.
"We would like to thank the staff at the Lindo Wing and the whole hospital for the tremendous care the three of us have received," the 31-year-old Duchess and Duke of Cambridge said in their statement. "We know it has been a very busy period for the hospital and we would like to thank everyone - staff, patients and visitors - for their understanding during this time."
Kate's mother, Carole Middleton, arrived at the hospital Tuesday afternoon and told reporters that her new grandchild was "absolutely beautiful."
"We are so thrilled. They are both doing really well," Carole said.
When asked how the first hug was with the little prince, Carole smiled and told reporters that it was, "Amazing. It's all coming back!"
