Seth Rogen just doesn't think that people care about the Oscars anymore, and, honestly, he makes some good points.

In a joint Insider interview with 2021's Sexiest Man Alive Paul Rudd about their upcoming Super Bowl Lays Commercial, the actor openly discussed the overall ridiculousness he feels that the Oscars maintain.

Rogen intelligently pointed to the notion that we don't care about inner-industry awards for, really, any other indisutry. Why should the populous at large care about the entertainment awards. He shared candidly:

"I don't care who wins the automobile awards. No other industry expects everyone to care about what awards they shower upon themselves. Maybe people just don't care. Maybe they did for a while and they stopped caring. And why should they?"

While Rogen makes an interesting argument, this year will really be the barometer for whether or not people have truly lost interest in the awards show. Last year, the show saw the lowest viewership and rating statistics that they had ever seen before. However, the pandemic is a major variable in that number. Have people really lost interest or was the world simply upside-down? Is it right-side-up enough no to truly make any difference?

Rogen's comments do not actually call for an end to the Awards themselves. He simply calls into question why the industry demands the attention of the public for what is, esentially, an inner-company awards ceremony. " I mean, I don't get why movie people care so much if other people care what awards we give ourselves. To me, maybe people just don't care."

Either way, we are still happy for all who were nominated for awards this year, and we can't wait to find out who the host is going to be!
