It seems like Shailene Woodley, and Aaron Rodgers aren't heading to the altar soon as their engagement has been reportedly called off a year after the NFL athlete popped the question; what was the reason behind their breakup?

According to multiple insiders who spoke to Us Weekly Magazine, things haven't been doing great for the couple lately that ultimately led to their split.

One source noted that the pair haven't seen and spent time with each other over the past few weeks.

The reason behind it is that the "Fault in our Stars" actress has been "super busy with work." On the other hand, her fiance focuses on his career as a football athlete.

In addition, another source noted how things were "so different during lockdown" as they are mostly separated and had been "living in their bubble."

Another reason behind their split is Woodley's friend, as they reportedly disagreed with her fiance and didn't "believe Aaron is the best match for her."

At the time of this writing, neither Woodley nor Rodgers have publicly commented on the matter.

Shailene Woodley, Aaron Rodgers Relationship Timeline

Before getting engaged in February 2021, Rodgers was in a two-year relationship with Danica Patrick. The connection only lasted for two years as they split in July 2020.

A few months later, rumors circulated that the NFL athlete was dating Woodley. The pair reportedly started as friends, but later became romantically involved with each other.

Since they live far away, the couple tried a long-distance relationship while maintaining contact.

A few days after they were reportedly dating, Rodgers shocked the world upon announcing his engagement with the actress during the NFL Honor Awards.

"I got engaged and I played some of the best football in my career," the athlete said without naming Woodley.

The same month, Woodley confirmed the news during her appearance on Jimmy Fallon, where she showed her engagement ring.

She also gave a glimpse behind her relationship, saying they met at the time when "the stadiums were closed that he was playing in."

"When we met, also, I knew he was a football guy, but I didn't know like what kind of a football guy he was. And I'm still constantly learning," she added.
