Billy Bush, who himself was cancelled during the original days of the Trump campaign after appearing in the scandalous Access Hollywood tape (which you may remember best for Trump's "grab 'em by the pussy" comments), has some words of wisdom for Will Smith following The Slap.

Billy Bush was fired from Today after he was implicated in one of the first truly high-profile scandals of the Trump era - though of course not the largest by far - and now he's told TMZ that he doesn't want to see the same sort of thing happen to Will Smith, dubbing calls for his cancellation "crazy" and "ridiculous."

"You don't think that guy's hurting enough?"

Bush posted on Instagram about the matter as well.

"I sat with some guys at a table yesterday as they tore Will apart. Called him every name and said he should be done forever. I countered hard. We are all WIRED for reprehensible acts. 99.9% of the time we don't succumb, but the mechanics are there. Forgiveness is for the forgiver; It softens the lining of the heart. And there is beauty in watching someone get up and make good out of bad. Lay off Will Smith. There's nothing in it for you.

Furthermore, and most importantly, cancellation is very dangerous. It can take the lives of the unstable. It causes anxiety, depression, panic. You do NOT want to be involved in that.

I am firmly against the savage, unsustainable and apparently escalating war on human flaws. Aren't you?"

Bush also told TMZ that he called Smith's publicist and urged them to tell the actor to read a book called The Daily Stoic, which he says taught him critical life lessons when he was in a similar situation to Will.
