Former heavyweight boxing champ Mike Tyson got into a scrape while on a flight Wednesday, when he was involved in an physical altercation with a fellow passenger.

The incident was covered by TMZ Sports, who had the events confirmed by sources close to Tyson. Evidently, while on a flight from San Francisco to Florida, an inebriated fan sitting behind Mike asked to take a selfie.

Initially, apparently Tyson obliged, and acted very cordial. It wasn't until the man continually tried to talk with the boxing legend that things got out of hand.

Tyson asked the man to stop and leave him alone, but his plea fell on deaf ears. When the man continued to pester the champ, Tyson turned and began to punch the overzealous passenger repeatedly in the face, leaving a few abrasions on the side of his forehead.

Mike exited the plane moments later. The passenger later reported the fight to the cops, who have yet to make a statement. Both Tyson's camp and JetBlue have been silent thus far as well.

Tyson, who has had a whirlwind career, has had his share of controversy over the years. In 1991, he was sentenced to six years on rape charges, though he only served three. Then, in 1999, Tyson was arrested for assaulting two motorists following a traffic altercation where he was sentenced to a year in jail - but he was released after six months for good behavior. He was also fined $5,000 dollars and put on a two year probation.

Other notable run-ins with Tyson involve his divorce to actress Robin Givens, who once recounted why she left the marriage to Barbara Walters:

"He shakes, he pushes, he... swings. Sometimes I think he's trying to scare me. There were times that it happened that I thought I could handle it, and just recently, I have become afraid. I mean, very, very much afraid."

And obviously we cannot forget the ear biting incident during a title bout with boxer Evander Holyfield, which has since become synonymous with Tyson's legacy.

Known for his aggression, Tyson has been quoted as saying, "I'm on the Zoloft to keep me from killing y'all." Though in recent years, he has praised psychedelics for helping him find peace, so far as starting his own edibles company where he ironically sells ear shaped THC gummies.
