Many were stunned when Kim Kardashian did the unthinkable as she walked down the Met Gala red carpet wearing the exact dress that Marilyn Monroe wore 60 years ago. Today, legendary designer Bob Mackie is speaking out his thoughts about the matter.

According to Vanity Fair, Mackie is the iconic costume designer who sketched the 1962 "naked dress," he was only 23 years old at the time and was working under Jean Louis, the designer who constructed the dress out of silk soufflé.

Since he was involved in the process of creating the original piece six decades ago, Entertainment Weekly asked the designer about his honest opinion on Kardashian strutting down the red carpet wearing the frock.

"I thought it was a big mistake. [Marilyn Monroe] was a goddess. A crazy goddess, but a goddess. She was just fabulous. Nobody photographs like that. And it was done for her. It was designed for her. Nobody else should be seen in that dress," he told the outlet.

In addition, he gave fans an insight about the outfit itself, saying it was dyed to match her exact skin tone, as well as sewn onto her body to match her figure.

The iconic blonde bombshell wore the gown at the Madison Square Garden in New York City to sing the unforgettable "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" to former leader John F. Kennedy.

Mackie's comments come a few weeks after Kardashian showed up at the Met wearing a literal piece of history.

The mom of four got the dress from the "Ripley's Believe It or Not!" museum.

At first, the SKIMS CEO had difficulty wearing the outfit because it didn't match her proportion. A team of people who helped her fit the dress onto her curvy body.

There was a short fashion mishap as the zipper couldn't be closed; that's why Kardashian wore a fur coat during the event to hide the mistake.

During the red carpet interview, the KKW Beauty founder said forced herself to lose weight just for the dress to fit.

"I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein. I didn't starve myself, but I was so strict," she told Vogue Magazine.
