Kate Moss testified at the high-profile defamation trial of her ex-boyfriend Johnny Depp, dispelling a long-standing claim that he shoved her down a flight of stairs in the 1990s. It was one of the most groundbreaking testimonies for this case yet.

It remains to be seen whether it can ultimately set forth a win for Johnny Depp, but it clearly triggered speculations that this can be a great start for a certain reconciliation - one between exes - Johnny Depp and Kate Moss.

The supermodel, who dated Depp between 1994 and 1997, became a star witness for her ex-boyfriend, with admirers speculating on social media that the pair will likely revive their once-smoldering romance.

"Why has Kate Moss decided to testify? Does she still love Johnny? I hope and think so," one romantic who fervently wants #JusticeForJohnnyDepp posted to Twitter.

"I hope after this is over, Johnny realizes Kate was the one to marry as a life partner. I hope he phones her up and asks her out on dinner date," another said.

But of course, life is not really a fairytale. One should remember that while Depp is unmarried, Moss is in a presumably stable relationship.

Moss, 48, is in a six-year relationship with German aristocrat and photographer Count Nikolai von Bismarck, 35.

Only romantics on social media cannot be deterred with this information.

There are quite many of them. Since the testimony, social media users fawned over her participation at the trial, with many commenting that Depp appeared pleased when she appeared via video link to rebut prior testimony from Heard, 36.

"Johnny's smile when Kate popped up on the screen? Y'all better get back together 'cause that cute," an eagle-eyed trial viewer wrote.

Meanwhile, another asked: "Can we talk about how Johnny's face lit up after seeing her face on screen?"

Depp is now suing his ex-wife Amber Heard for defamation for an opinion piece she wrote for the Washington Post in 2018 in which she claimed to be a victim of sexual assault.

Earlier this month, while testifying in the Virginia defamation trial, Heard mentioned claims that Depp shoved Moss down a flight of stairs at some point during their relationship.

Heard's statements spurred Depp's attorneys to call Moss as a counter-witness.

Moss testified during her brief appearance on Wednesday, to deny all Amber Heard said.

Moss, speaking from Gloucester, England, described to the jury how she had fallen down a flight of stairs while leaving her hotel room at the GoldenEye resort in Jamaica during a thunderstorm, and it was Depp who was the first to help her and get her medical attention. In an earlier interview, she said Depp actually gave direction to her life, and genuinely cared for her.
