Ana de Armas believes that the continual media attention around her relationship with Ben Affleck was so "horrific" that it prompted her to relocate to New York.

It may not be the whole reason, but it is part of why she left Los Angeles, the 34-year-old "Blonde" actress stated in Elle's August 2022 cover story regarding the incessant paparazzi photos of the couple.

De Armas, who lived in the City of Angels for seven years, saw firsthand how some of her friends managed the public eye, but experiencing it herself validated her beliefs.

She stated that she told herself that it is not where she should be and al the media scrutiny on her made her feel suffocated. She felt there was no way out.

The actress from "Knives Out" stated that she felt "anxious" in Los Angeles since there is "always the feeling of something missing."

During the coronavirus outbreak, De Armas dated Affleck, 49, and the former pair was confined together. During this period, they were frequently captured on camera while walking their dogs or making coffee runs.

However, by January 2021, the "Deep Water" co-stars had separated after over a year of collaboration.

At the time, a source close to the stars told that there was no love lost despite the breakup. The split however, was amicable.

A source revealed that de Armas and Affleck broke up because they were in "different places" in their lives and the "Armageddon" actor would not commit to having additional children.

With his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, he has a 16-year-old daughter named Violet, a 13-year-old daughter named Seraphina, and a 10-year-old son named Samuel.

After Affleck and de Armas ended their relationship, the "Argo" director rekindled his love with Jennifer Lopez. In April of 2022, they renewed their engagement.

In the meantime, de Armas began dating Tinder executive Paul Boukakakos. The couple resides in New York together.

The couple, who have been dating for a year, have not been as successful in avoiding the paparazzi. They were photographed kissing in Los Angeles in December of 2021.

"Deep Water," a suspense film directed by "Fatal Attraction" director Adrian Lyne, marked the beginning of their relationship. After falling out of love, they play mind games with each other as a married couple.

At the time, it was rumored first that they were spending time together outside of work. In January, a fan shared a photo of them at a pub in New Orleans.

De Armas was on her path to A-list stardom after her breakthrough performance in the autumn mystery film "Knives Out." On the the other hand, Affleck was in the process of rehabilitating his career and reputation after being vilified for destroying his family after a tumultuous, high-profile divorce with Jennifer Garner. He and Garner have three kids together. Affleck's personal drama included rumored affairs with his children's babysitter and a Playboy Playmate, as well as a romance with "Saturday Night Live" producer Lindsay Shookus.
