The final five days of Queen Elizabeth II are a combination of astonishment, sadness, and joy.

The late monarch allegedly assured her companions she had "no regrets" and was even cracking a few jokes.

Despite seeming ill, Her Majesty appeared to be in good spirits in several of her final days, according to Rt. Rev. Dr. Iain Greenshields, Church of Scotland moderator.

He spent time with Queen Elizabeth II the weekend before her death while visiting at Balmoral.

He even shared the memories from their final meeting, telling ABC News (per the Mirror), "It seemed just astonishing that the woman who had been so vital, so alive, so engaging, should be all of a sudden, dead and away from us."

Dr. Greenshields remarked that her frailty was obvious at her age. However, as soon as the Queen began to speak, it was as if a new type of person appeared.

"Somebody whose memory was exceptional, somebody who knew everything about you, so she'd done her homework."

He also reported that King Charles III's mother joked about him living in the Tower Rooms.

"Your Queen is sending you to the Tower," Queen Elizabeth II allegedly screamed, smiling.

Dr. Greenshields, on the other hand, stated that the Queen informed him he had no regrets while addressing her deep Christian beliefs.

The reverend's account is only one of several that indicate the Queen made every attempt to remain active toward the end of her life.

She had mobility challenges in the past several months, although she was known to have ridden just two months before she died.

John Warren, Queen Elizabeth II's racing and bloodstock consultant, also stated that she rode one of her horses the day before he paid her a visit in July.

According to John, she loved getting near to the animals and was always interested by them.

The specialist was with Her Majesty as they made arrangements for her string of thoroughbreds, which included Group 2 Temple Stakes winner King's Lynn, just days before she died.

Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning queen, died peacefully at her house at Balmoral with her family by her side on September 8, after 70 years of reign.

A state funeral and committal service were performed in her honor on September 19, with various international leaders, royal family members, and Britons in attendance.
