TRIGGER WARNING: This article contains sensitive topics like suicide

According to People Magazine, the chef/travel host passed away at the age of 61 due to suicide. At the time, he was in Kaysersberg, France, to film an episode of his travel show titled "Parts Unknown."

Weeks before his death, he was reportedly "giddy" because the release of his CNN show's Hong Kong episode was set to be released, it was directed by his partner Asia Argento.

Despite showing happy emotions, he's struggling behind closed doors as he reportedly had a "troubled relationship" with his girlfriend.

Recently, an unauthorized biography titled "Down and Out in Paradise" by Charles Leerhseen shared an excerpt of its contents to the outlet to shine a light on Bourdain's life.

'Down and Out in Paradise' to Reveal Personal Details About Anthony Bourdain, Asia Argento's Final Moments

The book contains intimate details as they were able to obtain personal texts and e-mails on his phone and laptop.

"You were reckless with my heart," one of his last texts to Argento reads.

In a previous interview, the actress/director confirmed that they both cheated on one another and it wasn't a "problem" for them.

As written by the author, Argento also complained about the chef being "too possessive." She would always tell him that her kids were her number one priority, work came second, and he came third.

However, he fears that he would become fourth or fifth in the future and it wasn't because of simple jealousy.

By June 2018, their relationship became even more complicated even though Argento was not seeing anyone aside from her ex-husband. The author clarified that both of them have an open relationship as they "theoretically" had the right to have other lovers.

However, in Bourdain's case, he was meeting prostitutes, but he didn't count them as "lovers" as there was no emotional attachment.

The day before his death, they reportedly had a big fight because of the chef's possessiveness. His last text message to her was, "I can't believe you have so little affection or respect for me that you would be without empathy for this."

His good pal Ripert invited him to have dinner but Bourdain turned down his suggestion, instead, he went out by himself, "ate a lot and drank a lot" that evening.
