Prince Harry rarely looks happy since he left the royal family, a royal biographer claimed.

The royal family lost Prince Harry in January 2020 when the Duke of Sussex decided to give up his senior royal position to be with his wife, Meghan Markle, and become financially independent outside the UK.

Since then, royal experts, commentators, and biographers differentiate his previous life from what he currently has now, saying that the royal prince looks miserable when he chose a life with Meghan.

During his appearance at the Henley Literary Festival (as reported by The Telegraph), Duke of Kent's royal biographer Hugo Vickers said royals are not the happiest when they choose to part ways with the royal family to follow their desired path.

He set Prince Harry as an example, saying that he looks "miserable" after giving up his royal duties just like what his great-granduncle, Edward VIII, did. For what it's worth, the exiled king abdicated after serving the throne for 325 days to marry the American divorcee, Wallis Simpson.

According to Vickers, the former king's decision led to his own sadness.

"As for members of the Royal family stepping away, I don't think it usually leads to happiness in the long run. I don't think it did with the Duke of Windsor. As for the Duke of Sussex, who knows what is going to happen to him, but he looks utterly miserable," he added.

The royal author added that the most successful royal members are those who support the monarch, including the Duke of Kent.

Hugo Vickers Disapproved of King Charles III's Slimmed Down Monarchy

Elsewhere in the interview, Vickers said it is impossible to have a slimmed-down monarchy as the public wants to see the royal family members in charities.

He believes the members have unique and useful roles in royal engagements and slimming down the monarchy will recalibrate everything the previous monarchs did for The Firm and the people.

Vickers' comment about Prince Harry's miserable life resonated with what Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight that the duke has been suffering after his US move with Meghan.

The royal expert insisted that Prince Harry felt rudderless, causing him to suffer. Meanwhile, a source of Vanity Fair added he has already been missing having a structured life.
