Last Friday, the leader of BTS posted a photo in an Instagram Story only to take it down a few minutes later.

RM's now-deleted Instagram Story showed him smoking while another man, who seemed to be smoking too, patted his head.

Though RM quickly took down the photo after it was posted, it has already been saved by fans and netizens and reposted on other social media platforms.

While most fans thought RM posted it accidentally, others believed the "Indigo" artist's post was intentional.

"...Honestly, it looked like he accidentally sent out that post," tweeted one fan. A second one said, "To me personally, it just kinda felt like that was not something he wanted to share with us, his fandom, but instead with his close friends kinda thing..."

"I doubt it was an accident. RM is being RM. It is not like he was not hinting it with the cigarette burn on his pants..." argued another.

ARMYs also shared their thoughts on RM's act of smoking per se. Though some condoned smoking, they shared that they don't hate RM for it.

One fan who works with the digital team of the World Health Organization reposted one of the paintings RM previously shared on his Instagram account. It was a 1979 Philip Guston painting titled "Talking."

"In the late 1970s, Guston struggled with health problems. For years, he worked in the studio long into the night, painting & smoking," she tweeted.

"They are their own people, and sometimes they make choices you might not appreciate. If you worship them like they're perfect human beings, this is what happens. Even though I don't appreciate people smoking, I don't hate RM for it," a second user said.

"I don't care about them smoking... their life, their body, their choice. I don't smoke though, tried, never liked it, would not do it again," commented a third fan.

"Is smoking as heinous as murder? What's the big fuss? He is a mature person. Why are people so judgmental over petty things! He can do whatever he wants as long as he is not violating any law. I still stand for him because he makes good music," another wrote.

RM's now-deleted photo was also reposted on an online forum in South Korea. Netizens in the online community also shared their thoughts.

"He's an adult," one user commented. Another seconded, "He can smoke, he is already 30."

"This is not a problem at all," wrote another.

However, some users thought that RM's "accidental" post was something that would be bad for his image.

"I don't care if he smokes or not, but why would he post that?" commented one user, while another stated, "This kind of ruins his image."
