Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter Zahara Jolie-Pitt joined a sorority group but only used the second half of her family name at the introduction ceremony.

Zahara, 18, joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at Spelman College. While she has gained new sisters in the organization, she seemingly dropped her dad, Pitt.

"My name is Zahara Marley Jolie. And [I] landed all the way from the Golden State in the city full of angels: Los Angeles, California," she said in the video obtained by Essence from the event.

Some felt that Zahara was shading her dad by not using her complete family name, "Jolie-Pitt," during the introduction ceremony, Page Six reported. The lack of mention of "Pitt" became a discussion on Twitter, and netizens shared mixed opinions about it.

"I wasn't gonna say anything, but I definitely peeped that Zahara left Pitt off her last name," one wrote. Another commented, "Oh Zahara said her last name is Jolie, not Jolie-Pitt."

"Peep how she claims the Jolie name and NOT Pitt, love to see it," a third added.

However, some were confused because they believed she had always been a "Jolie" and not a "Pitt."

"Did her name get changed to Pitt at one point cuz she's always been Jolie, to my knowledge?" one user asked.

"She was only a Jolie Pitt by marriage, Angelina adopted her before Brad I believe. Either way, I wouldn't [use] the last name of someone who abused my mother and brother. Kudos to baby girl!" another said.

Jolie became a mom in 2002 when she adopted Maddox Chivan, 22, from an orphanage in Cambodia. In 2005, she adopted Zahara from Ethiopia. When Pitt and Jolie got together, they welcomed their first daughter, Shiloh Nouvel, 17, in 2006. In the same year, they also adopted Pax Thien, 19, from Vietnam. The celebrity exes' family expanded in 2008 when they welcomed their 15-year-old twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline.

Pitt adopted Jolie's first two children, People reported. Pitt and Jolie split in 2016 following an altercation in a private jet and have since been fighting for their children's custody.

In 2021, Maddox testified against this dad. An unnamed source also told Us Weekly that he wanted to drop Pitt's family name, but his mom disapproved of it.

"Maddox has already given testimony as [an] adult in the ongoing custody dispute, and it wasn't very flattering toward Brad," the unnamed source said. "He doesn't use Pitt as his last name on documents that aren't legal and instead uses Jolie. Maddox wants to legally change his last name to Jolie, which Angelina has said she doesn't support."

In April 2019, Pitt and Jolie were declared officially single, and her name was restored to Jolie from Jolie Pitt, per USA Today. They have since moved on from each other, with the "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" actor dating Ines De Ramon for over a year already. Meanwhile, Jolie was briefly linked to The Weeknd.
