Britney Spears may reconcile with her estranged father, Jamie Spears, after he reportedly had his leg amputated last month due to complications arising from a past surgery.
TMZ and Page Six reported, citing unnamed sources with knowledge of the situation, that Jamie suffered a severe infection following a knee replacement surgery, leading to several unsuccessful attempts to contain the infection through surgeries.
Eventually, doctors decided to amputate his leg, according to the outlets.
This development follows earlier reports that Britney's 71-year-old dad had been in and out of hospitals, including a facility for infectious disease patients. At the time, it was reported that the health issues were linked to health issues stemming from a knee replacement surgery in the mid-2000s.

TMZ's sources suggested that Britney has softened her stance toward her father amid his health struggles.
Britney has expressed missing her father on several occasions and even considered sending him financial assistance, the sources claimed.
The sources also told the outlet that Jamie is hopeful for a reconciliation.
However, unnamed insiders claimed to Page Six in August that Britney had no plans to mend fences with her father amid her "healing journey."
The estrangement between Britney and her father intensified during the legal battle to end the conservatorship that Jamie had placed her under in 2008.
Britney accused her father of being "abusive" in court in 2021, leading to the suspension and eventual termination of Jamie's role as conservator.
In her recently released memoir, "The Woman in Me," Britney detailed the control Jamie exerted over her personal and financial decisions, likening it to being in a "cult" with her father as the "leader."
She accused him of forcing her into rehab multiple times and exploiting her success for his financial gain.
