Queen Elizabeth was reportedly not happy about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle naming their daughter after her moniker, Lilibet.

The issue about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's daughter's name resurfaced after British journalist, author and documentary filmmaker Robert Hardman mentioned it in his new book "Charles III: New King, New Court. The Inside Story."

Recently, an unnamed insider told Rebecca English, Daily Mail's royal correspondent, that the Queen was very upset with Prince Harry and Markle's decision. The late monarch allegedly didn't mince her words when she spoke with her aides.

"I don't own the palaces, I don't own the paintings, the only thing I own is my name. And now they've taken that," the late Queen Elizabeth reportedly said.

Enstarz could not independently verify the claim.

Some insiders who spoke with Hardman echoed the same sentiment. The Queen was reportedly furious when her grandson and granddaughter-in-law released a statement saying they had her blessing about naming their daughter "Lilibet."

"One privately recalled that Elizabeth II had been 'as angry as I'd ever seen her' in 2021 after the Sussexes announced that she had given them her blessing to call their baby daughter 'Lilibet,' the Queen's childhood nickname," Hardman wrote.

"The couple subsequently fired off warnings of legal action against anyone who dared to suggest otherwise, as the BBC had done. However, when the Sussexes tried to co-opt the Palace into propping up their version of events, they were rebuffed."

The Sussexes released the statement that they got the Queen's blessing after the BBC published a report citing an unnamed insider who claimed they didn't ask the Queen's permission to name their daughter after her. The royal couple insisted they wouldn't use the name without the Queen's approval.

"The duke spoke with his family in advance of the announcement -- in fact, his grandmother was the first family member he called," Prince Harry and Markle's rep said in a statement at the time.

"During that conversation, he shared their hope of naming their daughter Lilibet in her honor. Had she not been supportive, they would not have used the name."

Many of the Queen's granddaughters and great-granddaughters were given Elizabeth as a middle name as a tribute to the late Queen. For instance, Prince William and Kate Middleton's only daughter's complete name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. However, the name "Lilibet" was a personal endearment only used by Queen Elizabeth's closest family members and friends.
