"Argylle" director Matthew Vaughn's daughter was convinced Taylor Swift was the real author of the novel that inspired his upcoming film, but the filmmaker is now setting the record straight.

The director, 52, debunked the speculation that the pop superstar penned the recently published globe-trotting spy thriller "Argylle" during a new interview with Rolling Stone.

Vaughn revealed that it was his daughter who brought the internet rumors, which claimed author Elly Conway was a pseudonym and that Swift was the true writer of "Argylle," to his attention.

"I'm not a big internet guy, and it was actually my daughter who came up to me -- this is the power of celebrity and the internet -- and said, 'You never told me Taylor wrote the book!'" Vaughn said. "And I'm looking at her going, 'What are you talking about Taylor Swift wrote the book? She didn't write the book!'"

"I was laughing because I was like, 'It's not true! She didn't write the book!'" he added. "But my daughter was convinced of it."

Swifties speculated that the singer might be Conway due to various details, including the book's cover, which features a Scottish Fold cat resembling Swift's pet, Meredith Grey.

Swift was also rumored to be the book's mysterious author due to the singer's love for argyle sweaters and past usage of pseudonyms for projects. For example, she co-wrote Rihanna's "This Is What You Came For" under the pseudonym Nils Sjöberg.

However, Vaughn dismissed the claims.

He emphasized that the "Anti-Hero" hitmaker was not involved in the creation of the book, adding, "There is an Elly Conway who wrote the book, but it's not Taylor Swift."

But while she didn't write the book, the Scottish Fold cat featured prominently in "Argylle" has a connection to Swift.

Vaughn said his family adopted the cat, which they named Chip, after his daughters saw Swift's Scottish Folds, Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson.

According to the director, Chip ended up appearing in his film after the first cat hired did not work out.

"Argylle" follows the story of a reclusive author, Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard), whose spy novels end up mirroring a real-life spy organization's covert actions.

The film also stars Henry Cavill, Dua Lipa, Sam Rockwell, Ariana DeBose, Bryan Cranston, Samuel L. Jackson, Catherine O'Hara and John Cena.

"Argylle" is set to hit theaters on Feb. 2.
