Machine Gun Kelly debuted a massive blackout tattoo on social media and said it was for "spiritual purposes."

On Tuesday, the rapper took to Instagram to unveil his new blackout tattoo that covered up his previous colored upper torso tattoos. The blackout ink covered his chest and entire arms, only leaving gaps that formed a cross on his chest and stripes on his arms.

MGK captioned his post, "For spiritual purposes only." He also tagged his tattoo artist, Roxx.

The "Wild Boy" hitmaker allegedly had a "spiritual consultation" before undergoing a drastic tattoo cover-up, Roxx told TMZ. MGK reportedly revealed to her that his tattoos were too chaotic for him, and he wanted change and order in his life.

Roxx also shared with the media outlet that the tattoo process on the "Bloody Valentine" artist started way back in mid-December. MGK went to her private L.A. studio for four days every week to undergo 13 six-hour tattoo sessions.

However, they still have a few more sessions left to finish the project, according to Roxx.

The tattoo artist also shared a different photo of MGK's blackout tattoo on Instagram.

She captioned her post, "Made some art with @machinegunkelly. Never met a tougher one."

MGK replied, "Thanks for the joy and the pain."

Netizens quickly shared their thoughts on the rapper's bold move.

"Celebs getting great tattoos from legit artists! We are in a new era," one user commented.

A second netizen wrote, "I actually love it, especially the stripes on the arms. You can still see what was there before."

"It's taken me a lot to process! But I get the reasoning! Out with the old, in with the new!" opined someone else.

While others praised his new tattoo, some seemed taken aback by his decision to conceal his old inks.

"It looks amazing, I'm just a bit taken aback that even the album titles and other stuff are gone now. [I] hope it doesn't mean he felt the need to get rid of anything he created, [because] it was all great in its own way. Hope he can still be proud of what is 'gone' now," one netizen stated.

Another asked, "But why? All the tattoos you have gotten, why cover them up?"
