Melania Trump got revenge on her husband, Donald Trump, over his alleged affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels after the news broke in 2018, according to a new book.

In her book "American Woman: The Transformation of the Modern First Lady, from Hillary Clinton to Jill Biden," Katie Rogers reported that the then-first lady refused to join Trump on an overseas trip and returned to their Florida estate Mar-a-Lago without him after her husband's alleged infidelity made headlines, People reported.

Melania's then-press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, who accompanied her at the time, "said that the first lady had wanted to communicate her anger to the president," the New York Times White House correspondent wrote.

Grisham said in a statement to CNN in 2018 that Melania canceled her plans to join Trump on his trip to Davos, Switzerland, because of "scheduling and logistical issues."

However, in her book, Rogers wrote, citing Grisham, that Melania was trying to embarrass her husband in retaliation for the scandal.

"I think [Melania] was pissed at Trump and wanted him to be a little humiliated that she took off," Rogers quoted Grisham as saying.

In March 2018, Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, alleged in an interview on CBS' "60 Minutes" that she had sex with Trump in 2006 -- just months after Melania gave birth to the couple's only son, Barron.

The adult film star first made the claims during a 2011 interview with In Touch Weekly, which was published in January 2018.

Daniels claimed on "60 Minutes" that she asked Trump about Melania at the time, but the real estate mogul allegedly "brushed it aside" and claimed he and his wife had "separate rooms."

Daniels also clarified that while she was not physically attracted to Trump and did not want to have sex with him, she did not consider herself a victim and said the alleged encounter was "consensual."

The then-president vehemently denied that he and Daniels had sexual relations.

It was later revealed that Trump's former attorney, Michael Cohen, paid the porn star $130,000 before the 2016 presidential election to keep quiet about the alleged affair.

Trump's then-attorney Rudy Giuliani claimed in June 2018 that Melania "believes her husband" and "knows" the alleged affair was "untrue," People reported.

However, Melania later rebutted Giuliani's comment, telling ABC News in an interview four months later: "I never talked to Mr. Giuliani."

But the then-first lady also appeared to dismiss the affair allegations and insisted that her and Trump's marriage was "fine."

"Yes, we are fine. It's what media speculate, and it's gossip," Melania told ABC News. "It's not always correct stuff."

"I'm very strong, and I know what my priorities are," she added.

Last year, Trump was indicted over the alleged hush-money payment made to Daniels. He was charged with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records over his alleged 2017 reimbursements to Cohen for the Daniels payment.

Trump has admitted to reimbursing Cohen for the $130,000 payment but continues to deny that he had an affair or that the payment was connected to his campaign.

Shortly before his April 2023 indictment, People quoted an unnamed source as claiming that Melania "remains angry" with her husband over the Daniels accusations.

Melania "doesn't want to hear [the alleged hush money payment] mentioned. She is aware of who her husband is and keeps her life upbeat with her own family and a few close friends," the source added.

Trump's criminal trial for the hush-money case is set to begin on March 25.
