Kate Middleton and King Charles are supportive of each other amid their cancer battles, according to a report.

Earlier this year, the Palace announced that King Charles was diagnosed with some form of cancer. On Friday, the Princess of Wales announced that she also had cancer, and they learned about it after she underwent abdominal surgery.

Prince William's father traveled from London to have lunch with his "beloved daughter-in-law," the Princess of Wales, on Thursday, a day before she announced to the world her cancer diagnosis, The Sun reported.

Middleton was reportedly keen to speak with the 75-year-old monarch about his condition. Their reunion was reportedly "emotional."

Enstarz could not independently verify the report.

"It is highly unusual for just the two of them to sit down together like this," an unnamed insider told the outlet. "The King had already been made aware that the woman he calls 'my beloved daughter-in-law' had cancer. They would have had lots to discuss and share because just weeks earlier, the King had begun his course of treatment and dealt with announcing his diagnosis."

His Majesty reportedly "left his lunch feeling very emotional." However, he was allegedly informed about Middleton's condition before he traveled to Windsor for lunch.

"They are very close, and he thinks of Catherine as his daughter," the tipster continued. "There is no doubt there is a lot they can share and can use each other for support during their own deeply personal cancer battles."

King Charles was reportedly very proud of Middleton for opening up about her condition and would continue to support his daughter-in-law.

"His Majesty is so proud of Catherine for her courage and speaking as she did. Following their time in hospital together, His Majesty has remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks," Buckingham Palace said in a statement obtained by Us Weekly. "Both their Majesties [Charles and Camilla] will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family throughout this difficult time."

The Prince and Princess of Wales were reportedly moved by the support they received after Middleton opened up about her health condition. They released a statement expressing their gratefulness for the public's understanding and support.

"The Prince and Princess are both enormously touched by the kind messages from people here in the U.K., across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness' message," a Kensington Palace spokesperson told Entertainment Tonight.

"They are extremely moved by the public's warmth and support and are grateful for the understanding of their request for privacy at this time."
