ENSTARZ asked Griffith: "What is the most sensible course of action for Diddy to take right now?"

He responded by emphasizing that in such investigations, it is paramount to fully cooperate with the authorities. The veteran attorney further elaborated that "sometimes the cover-up is worse than the crime. Being implicated in a cover-up can establish the mental element (mens rea) necessary for the crime."

Therefore, according to Griffith, the Bad Boy Records founder's best course of action is to refrain from taking any action that could further satisfy the mental element required for the offense.

Most crimes consist of two elements: the Actus Reus, which pertains to the physical act, and the mens rea, which encompasses the mental element requirement of the crime, such as intent or recklessness.

Recent headlines have swiftly demonstrated the practical implications of Griffith's advice.

According to Griffith, any attempts to conceal or avoid authorities can serve as evidence to prosecutors, the judge, and the jury that the defendant indeed had the necessary mental intent for the alleged crime. Consequently, arguing otherwise in a court of law would significantly weaken your position.

The rap mogul's residences in Los Angeles and Miami were raided Monday by Homeland Security Investigations agents following harrowing allegations of sexual assault and sex trafficking.

There have been several sexual assault lawsuits filed against Diddy in recent months.

In February, a music producer filed a lawsuit alleging the producer coerced him to solicit prostitutes and pressured him to have sex with them, the Associated Press reports. Shawn Holley, Diddy's attorney, said they "have overwhelming, indisputable proof that his claims are complete lies."

Singer Cassie, Diddy's ex-girlfriend of over a decade, who was once signed to Bad Boys Records, sued him in November alleging years of sexual abuse, including rape. The suit was settled the very next day after it was filed.

Diddy denies all accusations against him.
