Prince Harry may get the cold shoulder from the Brits when he returns to the United Kingdom next week, according to a royal expert.

The Duke of Sussex will return to the U.K. on May 8 for a special church service at St. Paul's Cathedral. Paul Burrell, a former aide for Princess Diana, weighed in on his potential return and the possible reaction from the public. He believes that Prince Harry might receive boos from the crowd.

"He is returning to St. Paul's Cathedral, where he was last booed," Burrell shared, per the New York Post. "The public is still in the same frame of mind, [so] he may well get booed again."

He added, "They don't have a place or a purpose here, after all, Harry is now a resident of the US, so he is almost American."

Prince Harry and Markle made their first public appearance in the U.K. since stepping back from their royal duties in 2020 when they attended the Thanksgiving Service at St. Paul's Cathedral for the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations. However, their arrival was met with a mixture of boos and cheers.

Charlotte Griffiths, royal editor for the Mail on Sunday, told GB News that it was probably the reason Markle would not join her husband on his U.K. trip. The former actress reportedly "knows she'll get booed and get a bad reception."

Meanwhile, Burrell also claimed that the British public is "unhappy with how things have turned out." Additionally, he believes that King Charles and Queen Camilla feel the same way and there will be no reconciliation between him and his big brother, Prince William.

"William has drawn a line in the sand, there is no chance of Harry reconciling with his brother," Burrell continued. "There is a chance, and the door is still open with his father, and I'm sure there will be a meeting, but Camilla won't be there because I don't think there is any love lost between Camilla and Harry."

King Charles is reportedly "too busy" to meet his youngest son, which only brings Prince Harry "one step closer to isolation." Markle and her husband were evicted from the Frogmore Cottage, their former official residence in London, last year. So, Prince Harry will be staying in a hotel for his U.K. trip next week.

"I think they are just letting him get on with it now, I don't think they are too happy about it, but Harry is taking another step closer all the time to isolation," Burrell added.

"Harry has pressed the self-destruct button, and he is going ahead with what he thinks is right, and I think he will come unstuck. I don't think all their plans are going to pan out, I think there is a time scale to his destruction."
