Macklemore's Mary Lambert said she "loved" the video of Blurred Lines in an interview with Vulture at the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 25.

Lambert spoke with the publication on the red carpet before watching Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke's performance later in the evening.

"I'm going to get in trouble for this, but I love the 'Blurred Lines' video,"  she said.

The 24-year-old singer-songwriter went on to rationalize her support for the video:

"Sure, it's gotten it's flack, but it's a fun video; I just think it's fun. I'm a socially conscious singer-songwriter, and that's really what I focus on. But sometimes you just want to dance and have fun, and it's okay to just sort of let all political correctness go. I think it's just an ability to separate yourself. We see that animals are killed and we still eat meat, because we kind of have to detach," she said.

In the aftermath of Cyrus and Thicke's performance -- which has received plenty negative criticism and has become the butt of most jokes on the internet right now -- Lambert's show of support before the performance is one of few appreciative voices.

Macklemore's Same Love won Best Video with a Social Message at the award ceremony. The single which is carried by Lambert's vocals, champions gay rights. Macklemore also won the Best Hip-Hop Video for Can't Hold Us for its collaboration with Ryan Lewis. The duo also performed the hit single at the Barclay's stage for the MTV Video Music Awards.
