One Direction singer Zayn Malik said in a recent interview that he and his fiancee, Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards, are "very happy" following news of their engagement.

The boy band talked with YourTango about girls and also their new movie This Is Us. The topic of Malik's engagement came up and when asked how he is feeling these days, the 20-year-old replied, "I'm very happy, but want to keep the rest private. But we're very happy." Malik did not reveal any wedding details and instead when on to talk about another special woman in his life: his mother.

This Is Us shows Malik buying his mother a home and watching the action play out on screen was emotional for the United Kingdom native.

"It's really moving and makes me cry when you see her reaction. I'll have that on tape forever now," he said.

Malik is the only 1D singer off the market. Harry Styles reportedly has not been in a serious relationship since I Knew You Were Trouble singer Taylor Swift, which ended in early 2013. Liam Payne is dating Sophie Smith and they were photographed together on Aug. 29 in London on the set of 1D's latest music video, the same day that he turned 20. Niall Horan is rumored to be dating Lights singer Ellie Goulding, and Louis Tomlinson has been reportedly dating model and student Eleanor Calder since September 2011.

Zayn Malik Almost Kicked Out of One Direction? 

Edwards, 20, arrived at the London film premiere for This Is Us on Aug. 20 wearing a huge diamond ring on her ring finger and the band's rep confirmed hours later that she and Edwards are engaged. Malik proposed on Aug. 18.

The couple met in December 2011 on the set of the United K's X Factor  and offically began dating in April 2012. They began living together back in February 2013. Malik got an image of Edwards' face tattooed on his right arm in June during his band's visit to Maryland.
