The BCBGMAXAZRIA runway show was one of the first to open the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at New York's Lincoln Center on Thursday.

In his spring 2014 collection, Max Azria incorporated a lot of black and white as well as knee-high skirts and over-sized pants. Cotton and loose flowing fabrics were also distinguishable on the runway.

Azria's standout pieces, however, were several elegant evening gowns, notably one with a colorful flower print dress and a hint of sheer material.

While the models' hair was simple, their shoes weren't. Several models showed off chunky heels with a thick lace up ankle strap.

Project Runway judge Nina Garcia, who sat front row at the show wearing a Google Glass, discussed her admiration for the label and the show.

"What I love about this brand is that you always walk out of here and you're like I might be that girl, I could wear that," she told reporters, including EnStars, after the show.
