Though The Justice League Movie isn't slated to arrive in theaters anytime soon, that hasn't stopped speculation over which superheroes will possibly be featured in the film.

Glee star Grant Gustin was cast to portray The Flash in three upcoming episodes of the CW's Arrow, with the potential for a spin-off of his own, sparking interest that a television show about the character could promote his involvement in the film.

Whether the inclusion of The Flash in the movie means Gustin could be a contender for it then is purely up for speculation. Either way, Gustin is excited about his new role.

"I'm unbelievably excited. I've been a lifelong fan of DC Comics, so I can't be more honored and can't wait to get started," Gustin told The Hollywood Reporter.

Gustin's casting isn't the only recent news to come out of the DC universe.

Last month, Ben Affleck was chosen to portray Batman in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie slated for release in 2015, much to the outcry of some fans. He has also been rumored to be directing The Justice League movie, but that report has not been confirmed or denied.

The movie, which still lacks a director and official plot, is expected to bring big buzz back to the DC franchise, which typically hasn't fared as well as its Marvel-helmed counterpoints.

The much-buzzed about finale to the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight Trilogy in 2012 got beaten at the box office by The Avengers, which grossed nearly $200 million more than Dark Knight.
