Selena Gomez has reportedly been served with a $1 million lawsuit. The young singer is facing the law over accusations one of her songs was a virtual copy of the melody created by another band five years before.

A band called Luce is claiming that the chorus of Selena's hit "A Year Without Rain", which was released in 2010, is almost identical to their own track called "Buy a Dog" which was released in 2005.

Listening to both songs Enstarz can confirm there are certainly some similarities between the two, although Selena's reps have yet to release any statement on the issue. Despite the similarities though, the melody isn't exactly the most unique in the world, and is relatively simple in nature.

Justin Bieber's girlfriend is not the only one in hot water though; the song's co-writers called Lindy Robbins and Toby Gad are also party to the lawsuit. According to TMZ the complaint from Luce states:

"The melodies in the chorus of both songs are virtually identical. [The song] was a No. 1 record on several radio stations around the United States, including WRLT in Nashville and KFOG in San Francisco, at both of which it was among the 10 most played records for the entire year of 2005."
