December is a big month for movie releases, from big budget blockbusters to Oscar contenders.

The December movie releases for 2013 feature many dramas and action films that are sure to thrill audiences going into the holiday season. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug brings audiences back to Middle Earth as Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) and company fight a new threat.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is the highly anticipated comedy sequel that brings the "legendary" Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) back to the screen. 

Many big Oscar contenders will be coming out in December. The Wolf of Wall Street stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a stockbroker who enters into a life of crime. American Hustle is a Goodfellas-esque tale with such stars as Jennifer Lawrence, Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper.  

There are plenty of small-budget quality films that are slated to come out as well. August: Osage County is an ensemble drama about a dysfunctional family, starring Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts. Her is a quiet dramedy about a man (Joaquin Phoenix) who falls in love with his intelligent computer, voiced by Scarlett Johansson.
