Justin Bieber's altercation with a photographer will be referred to the L.A. County D.A. for possible criminal prosecution, reports TMZ.com.

While Bieber is in Norway, the Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies are investigating a complaint by a photographer that Bieber "physically battered" him at the Commons at Calabasas Shopping Center on Sunday.

As part of the investigation, police has requested to interview Bieber.

The photographer alleges that he was taking pictures of Bieber and his girlfriend Selena Gomez when the singer roughed him up.

The man complained of pain and was treated at the scene by paremedics then taken to a local hospital where he was released the same day, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's department told Reuters.

Bieber and Gomez left the scene before the police arrived.

Witnesses Speak

According to witnesses, the photographer had been blocking Bieber's car as the singer was trying to leave. Bieber got out and the altercation began, TMZ.com reports.

TMZ also reported that after the incident, a lawyer approached the photographer and suggested he could get a lot of money by calling for an ambulance and filing a police report.
