Seth McFarlane will try to bring hilarity to an old western setting when he teams up with Neil Patrick Harris, Liam Neeson and Charlize Theron in A Million Ways to Die in the West.

Coming off of his huge directorial success with Ted, which earned 549 million in global box offices, McFarlane will direct the R-rated comedy. He also wrote the script for the May 2014 film, coming out a year before McFarlane's Ted 2.

The first still for A Million Ways shows the actor as Albert and Theron side-by-side staring at Harris as Foy and Amanda Seyfried, who is the main love interest.

The film's official synopsis is as follows:

"After a cowardly sheep farmer (MacFarlane) backs out of a gunfight, his fickle girlfriend leaves him for another man. When a mysterious and beautiful woman (Theron) rides into town, she helps him find his courage and they begin to fall in love. When her husband, a notorious outlaw, arrives seeking revenge, the farmer must put his newfound courage to the test."

Spoilers regarding the plot reveal McFarlane's character failing for Theron's, and Neeson being Theron's outlaw husband. There is also rumored to be a musical number in the film.

MacFarlane reunites with his Ted producers Scott Stuber and Jason Clark for the film, as well as "Family Guy" collaborators and the film's co-writers Wellesley Wild and Alec Sulkin.

Western comedies have either not done so well in the box offices or been panned by critics, with Disney's Lone Ranger flopping and Will Smith's Wild Wild West receiving a 20 percent on Rottontomatoes.

A Million Ways to Die in the West is set to come out May 30, 2014.
