The rumors of Green Lantern being among the many superheroes to be featured in Man of Steel 2 might turn out to be true.

With three major superheroes represented in Man of Steel 2 (Ben Affleck's Batman, Henry Cavill's Superman and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman), the blockbuster movie might just be getting a fourth. After Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson tweeted about having a meeting with the Warner Bros. CEO regarding D.C. Comics, there was speculation that he would be playing a major role in Man of Steel 2.

While some were floating around ideas like Doomsday, Martian Manhunter and Cyborg for Johnson, it is also entirely possible that he could be playing Green Lantern. ThinkMcFlyThink owner Peter Georgiou tweeted that there were rumors of Johnson playing John Stewart a.k.a. Green Lantern in the new movie.

"Rumor: I didn't hear this directly, but it's floating around behind the scenes in the industry: @TheRock is up for Jon Stewart. Shrugs," Georgiou tweeted.

Denzel Washington was also rumored to be playing Green Lantern, but this rumor has since been debunked.

While it has been widely assumed that Man of Steel 2 will have the Batman vs. Superman concept teased at Comic-Con in summer 2013, it is entirely possible that it will function as a Justice League movie instead. The Justice League, which is D.C.'s answer to Marvel's Avengers, consists of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter.
