Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) has been cast in the villainous role of Lex Luthor in Batman Vs. Superman.

Lex, a billionaire corporate tycoon who is also a genius, is Superman's enemy.

Ben Affleck will star as Batman in the film, which is being directed by Zack Snyder (300: Rise of An Empire), while Henry Cavill will take on the role of Superman. Gal Gadot (Fast and Furious) will be playing Wonder Woman in the film. The cast will also feature Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, and Diane Lane as Martha Kent.

Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, the President of International Distribution at Warner Bros. suggested that the team really looking forward to Zack Snyder's treatment of the two epic super heroes.

"We know that there is already great anticipation building for the next super hero film from Zack Snyder, and we are equally eager to see what he has in store for Superman and Batman as they share the big screen for the first time ever," she stated in a press release.

The film is scheduled for release on May 6, 2016. The date was recently pushed back from July 17, 2015.

The studio has another release lined up for the summer of 2015 now. Warner Bros. will be releasing an as-of-yet untitled Joe Wright directed film based on Peter Pan.

Dan Fellman, the President of Domestic Distribution at Warner spoke about making the most of the summer season, describing the Peter Pan project and Batman vs. Superman as two of their "biggest tentpole releases."

"We are happy to take advantage of these coveted summer dates, which are perfect for two of our biggest tentpole releases. We share the fans' excitement to see DC Comics' most popular figures, Superman and Batman, together on the big screen for the first time, which will now be arriving in theatres in May 2016," Fellman stated.
