An animator who worked on both Transformers: Dark of the Moon and the upcoming Transformers: Age of Extinction, talked about making the movements of the robots realistic in a recent interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) animation studios has been associated with all of the films to have been released in the Transformers franchise so far. Gen Ronn Cadiz, one of the animators who works at Lucasfilm Singapore, came to work on board at ILM to work on two of the Michael Bay-directed films.

In an interview with the Inquirer, Cadiz shared what it was like to work with the team and the challenge of trying to give the more technically sophisticated robots a realistic feel in the fourth film of the franchise.

"When a creature that you're watching onscreen moves, it should move realistically, even if it looks like nothing you've seen before, and therefore essentially unrealistic," he said.

The fourth film also seems to have upped the ante for Hasbro, the original producer of the Transformers toy line. Recently the company's CEO Brian Goldner spoke about revving up the design of the Optimus Prime to match up with the next installment of the Transformers, in an interview with the New York Times. The toy manufacturer also revealed details about the new Smash & Change Optimus Prime toy.

The spectacular special effects used in the series, which allowed for the robots to metamorphose their form very quickly, motivated Goldner to adapt that technical sophistication to the toys, as he asked his design team to get cracking on reconceiving them. The new toy has been enhanced with easier mechanisms and the transformation is made possible by the "push of a button" or a "flick of the wrist."

Jack Reynor is the male lead of the film and will be playing a race car driver. Nicola Peltz acts as Reynor's girlfriend and Mark Wahlberg will portray Flynn Vincent, Peltz's dad, whose alter ego is Cade Yaeger. Kelsey Grammer will be playing the role of Harold Attinger, a counter-intelligence agent who is the main antagonist in the film.

Transformers: Age of Extinction comes out June 27, 2014.
