Emilia Clarke has been following a very strict diet to play the part of Sarah Connor in Terminator 5.

The Game of Thrones actress told UK Instyle about the diet and rigorous training regimen she has been undergoing to play the tough mother of John Connor in the sci-fi film. She has not only had to give up her favorite foods but is also forbidden from touching the following edibles: wheat, sugar, caffeine and dairy products.

"I've been spending all day every day, in weapons training. I've been shooting guns, weightlifting, kickboxing and generally kicking a lot of a**," she said. "On top of that, I have not been allowed to eat anything that might taste good at all."

Filming begins in New Orleans, Louisiana in April.

Durng the interview with the publicaition there was an entire spread of food laid out. "Everything on these plates looks amazing but, heartbreakingly, I'm not allowed to eat any of it," she added. "Not one thing on this table. Except a cup of tea. One cup of tea. No sugar. No cream."

Clarke beat out several other actresses -- including Brie Larson (The Spectacular Now), Tatliana Maslany (Orphan Black) and Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) -- for the coveted part of Sarah Connor, in December last year.

Linda Hamilton played Sarah in The Terminator (1984) and Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991). Hamilton also lent her voice, although it was uncredited, for tapes Sarah recorded before the character's death in Terminator Salvation (2009)

Terminator 5 is scheduled for release on July 1, 2015.
