When the media reported the actor coming on board, they assumed that he would be playing a villainous role alongside Vincent D'Onofrio (Men in Black). It was revealed that D'Onofrio will be playing the main antangonist in the fourth installment of Jurassic Park. And it was assumed that Khan would be joining D'Onofrio's camp has his being added to the case was also announced at the same time.

An inside source revealed that that was actually not the case and that the Indian actor was wary of the kind of roles he takes on after his part in The Amazing Spiderman was deflated in the final cut.

"And it's not a villain's role as has been reported in the international press," the source said. "After the way his role was melted down in The Amazing Spiderman, Irrfan is not willing to take risks with international offers. Just because he is being offered a role in a huge franchise, he won't run for it at the cost of his Indian projects."

It is also being suggested that Khan is in two minds about coming on board. He is deciding between Jurassic Park 4 and a Bollywood film by Indian director Tigmanshu Dhulia, because both films are being shot around the same time.

"It is tempting to take on a project that Steven Spielberg is associated with. But there is the risk of being lost in the crowd. Irrfan is waiting for the script before he chooses between Spielberg and Dhulia," the source said.
