A new report by Batman-News is claiming that the Superman statue photographed on the set has to do with a tribute to the iconic superhero after he saved the world in Man of Steel. A scene from Batman v Superman was filmed on Friday which features a press conference being held to commemorate Superman.

With Batman v Superman taking place a full two years after the events at the end of Man of Steel, the people of Metropolis are coming together, with new trucks and helicopters from both Metropolis and Gotham present.

There are also some elementary school children who are sporting "Superman Survivors" shirts. These kids help to pull of a sheet and reveal the statue dedicated to Superman.

While the statue photographed appeared to be incomplete, the report claims that the rest of the statue will be edited in post production using CGI.

Despite Superman ultimately saving the world at the end of Man of Steel, he also wound up destroying much of Metropolis in his battle with General Zod. There is no word on whether or not this damage will have any importance moving forward.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice features an all star cast that includes Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent and Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne's butler. Other actors said to be involved are Holly Hunter in a new role and Jason Momoa as Aquaman.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release in theaters on May 6, 2016.
